Our Journey Together

Kevin hits the Jackpot

Kevin and Jack had their first date November 27th, 2018. After sharing appetizers, small plates, and half priced bottles of wine, the two of them decided to take a walk around the Christmas Villages of Bryant Park. As the date continued, Jack kept pushing back which train he would have to take to get home, until finally, it came time for the final train of the night. Kevin walked him to Grand Central. On the way they both asked when their next date could be, and scheduled it for the following evening. Neither of them wanted to play games, they just wanted to see each other again. The next few months, the two continued to date, seeing a comedy show, walking the highline, and watching Christmas movies at Kevin’s apartment, until the time that January 2019 came around. As Jack arrived in the city from Larchmont, Kevin surprised him with tickets to Wicked on Broadway. That evening after the show, the two officially agreed that they were boyfriends. Fast forward a few months, the two met each others families. A trip to Wisconsin, Disney, and year later was the beginning of the pandemic. Kevin and Jack decided to head to Maryland for 2 weeks to see Kevin’s parents and ride out the virus. Well, 2 weeks turned into 5 months! Jack really got to know Karen, and Bob. Later, they returned to New York to stay with the Spaders in Larchmont. This ended up lasting for 4 months during which Kevin had the same chance to really get to know Kate and Dave. In January of 2021, Kevin and Jack officially moved in together in NYC. Later that month, Kevin went to Larchmont to talk to Kate and Dave, and ask their blessing in joining their family. Naturally, they said yes, and after much planning, Kevin finally proposed on a sailboat in front of the The Statue of Liberty. Jack likes to say “It’s the only time I’ve almost fallen overboard.” Their families were waiting for them on the dock, and there was a party with friends back at the Spader’s backyard in Larchmont.
