We met one very late Friday night in the bustling area of Lower East Side. We both admit we had one tequila too many that warm May evening but we also admit it was definitely love at first sight. It was pretty instant. We laughed, talked, and danced the night away! When we met, we both weren’t looking for love. We were both living it up in Manhattan and didn’t have the time or energy for a relationship. We were grinding out during the week, partying all weekend, and exploring our life in the big apple. Meeting each other and hitting it off wasn’t in our plans but it was in God’s. Little by little over many weeks, we got swept up in each other. When we found each other, it was the greatest gift we could have asked for. We were both rough around the edges and not sure how to do the whole “NYC love story” and while our love hasn’t been perfect and at many times not easy, it has been real and worth it. When you fall in love with your opposite, in your mid-twenties, and in the beginning of your thriving career, it won’t be a fairytale. We have worked intentionally on ourselves as individuals and together as a team. We have grown to become life partners and best friends the last four years and taking this next life step together feels more than right. Kevin is the life of the party and Hannahrose is his biggest cheerleader. Hannahrose is a little sassy and a whole lot bossy and Kevin is always her voice of reason. We have built a love and life we are proud of and can’t wait to call each other husband and wife.
It was our first night in Jamaica. It was Christmas Eve and we had spent the day with family river tubing, exploring Ocho Rios, and drinking way too many Red Stripes! We came home right before the sunset and Kevin suggested we all go see the first sunset of our trip. He ran upstairs to "grab a new shirt" (aka get the ring out of the safe) and off we went to the nearby beach. We went onto the pier and we both began to comment on how gorgeous the pink, orange, and blue sky was. Kevin brought the polaroid camera he had bought Hannahrose years before (the first gift he ever gave her) and began to say how he needed help with the film. He handed Hannahrose the film and asked if she could help him so we could take a picture before the sunset went down. As Hannahrose opened the back of the camera, she was so confused because the film was upside down. As she took it out, she began to see pictures of Kevin and some words. Slowly she took it all out and began to cry as she looked at 4 polaroids of signs in NYC asking "Will You Marry Me?" Hannahrose turned around and Kevin was on one knee. Our forever started at that moment.
