It was a summer evening in Birkdale Village where you can catch a delicious meal and live music. Out on the patio at Red Rocks, Elena, her mom, and sister noticed Kevin eating alone. As they all came up with different reasons why this man was eating alone, Elena started to grow a crush. She wanted to know more about this cute boy with bracelets. It wasn't long before Kevin was finished eating and got up to head home for the evening. Elena was frustrated that she was about to miss her chance. Luckily, Mom was there and said, "Hey! Where are you going?" Kevin had no other plans that night so instead of going home early he sat down and had a drink. One drink turned into four and the night seemed to stand still as they talked about family, faith, and hometowns. It all started with a lonely boy, a curious girl, and her audacious mother.

It was Covid 2020 and nothing seemed to be going right this year...except this. We planned a vacation around meeting Kevin's side of the family, and if you know anything about us it's that family is very important. During the visit, we did a tour around Florida stopping in at different extended family members' house. Once every one met Elena, it was time to pop the question. The engagement ring was a total secret. Kevin found a local jeweler in his hometown that does custom jewelry and picked out the diamond as well as the unique design in the band. So at this point it was just finding the right time. We were staying in St. Augustine, FL and Elena loved the Cathedral of St. Augustine that is in the main square. Elena asked to attend mass the following morning... but Kevin thought up the plan that we also have to get up to see the sunrise. That Tuesday morning, with a cup of coffee and the sun rising over Castillo de San Marcos, Kevin pops the question. An amazing lady happend to be walking and snaped photos without us knowing. What an amazing morning followed up by a weekday morning Mass, just reflecting on how God has His hand in our relationship.
