It all started with a simple Facebook post—one of those casual, off-handed questions you throw into the void, hoping someone might have an answer. I asked if anyone knew how to play Magic: The Gathering. Enter Kevin. He volunteered like some sort of cardboard-wielding hero, ready to teach me the arcane arts of tapping lands and slinging spells. What was supposed to be a quick introduction to a game became the beginning of something much bigger. Our first real outing was dinner followed by Joker, where we bonded over dark humor, comic lore, and the very real debate of “Was that movie brilliant or just unsettling?” (We’re still not sure.) Before long, life together became a whirlwind of nerdy adventures—late-night Magic battles, Dungeons & Dragons campaigns where our characters made deeply questionable choices, and of course, the addition of a cat who immediately decided to battle it out with our wonderful kiddo, Natalia, who the true DM of the household. Many decks, dice rolls, and shared snacks later… we’re getting married. Because sometimes love doesn’t start with fireworks—sometimes it starts with a Facebook post, a volunteer, and a game of Magic.
