One Moment

(It almost didn't happen)

August 17, 2018, We first laid eyes on each other. Now this is definitely not a love at first sight story, far from it. We both had done relationships before, and had gotten tired of the nonsense. It was getting old. She was done with college boys who did her wrong, and didn't treat her the way she longed to be. He was done trying to prove himself to people how valuable he really was because he knew he was worth more than people appreciated him for. The two had gotten to the place where they just stopped looking. They began to care more about loving who they were supposed to become rather than who everyone wanted them to be. It became an everyday routine that they would make their health a priority. While most people attended the gym, we had a love for the outdoor recreational facility on campus. Even though we both were actively going there everyday, we had never crossed paths until this day. Now normally we got to enjoy going alone, but she had to change what time she normally showed up. It was this one change that changed their lives forever. When they both parked, it was understood by a glance that the two would keep their distance from one another. He stayed on his side of the machines, and she stood on hers. They were able to stay out of each other's way until some employees were trying to get her attention. He just wanted to mind his own business, but he could tell it was making her uncomfortable. He walks up to her and says, "Are you ok? If you'd like me to, I'll go over and say something to them." She insisted that he didn't have to do that, but asked if he would stay with her and pretend they're together until they left. So we talked. Thirty minutes went by, then an hour, then two. We didn't know it at the time, but somehow when we stopped looking, we found everything we were looking for.
