How We Met

05 | 12 | 2018

We met while we happened to share the same employment. Kevin was going through a big life change focused on himself and his 3 children; Abigail 16, Wesley 13, and Adelynn 7, until he encountered me on his first day as an LPN. I was working as an activity assistant, still operating my paint party business, and happily living as a single mother of 2; Malainey 26, and Alexander 16. During my late 20's I had decided that, "the one" was either not necessary or most likely not going to happen, because it would "have" happened already. As I was facilitating bingo one day, Kevin was new and briefly into his tour of the nursing home. As I called, “B-11”, I looked up suddenly and Kevin was looking right at me. When our eyes first met they locked in for an awkwardly pleasant long time and so began the art of flirting with a co-worker.

The First Date

07 | 25 | 2018

Our flirting at work was mutually electrically charged beyond anything either of us had experienced. There was natural chemistry between us. Before Kevin and I made it to our first date at Boxcars, it took him a large handful of awkward attempts to successfully ask me out for dinner. There were many moments he would approach to tell me about some fabulous place to eat or an exciting event while nervously failing to deliver that last line, " would you like to join me?" and I would excuse myself to finish work with a questionable smirk on my face. After some time I wondered if he ever would ask me out and became eager for a date with him. So I decided to excitedly broadcast a date with another guy with a couple of gals near the nurses' station one night where Kevin was charting. The date had never happened, it was completely fabricated but that didn't matter, for my goal was to ignite an overwhelming desire in Kevin to just ask me out already. And it worked! One Friday night at the end of a really hard shift for all he finally asked with the utmost relaxed confidence, "if I was interested in getting a beer with him”. We went to Boxcars in our scrubs, ordered 2 beers and played music on the jukebox. We talked, laughed, and never quite took our eyes off each other. Kevin and I shared many amazing dates, and before long we both soon realized we could not ever imagine life without each other.

The Proposal

12 | 31 | 2019

Kevin and I had been dating for over 2 years, the conversation about marriage casually came up one day . I had expressed to him that yes, ask my parents but it’s really my children’s approval you would need if and when you felt emboldened to ask for my hand in marriage. For having never been married before, it would be my children who would give me away. So as I was preparing for the holidays in 2019 was tough after merging two households together and all I wanted was some time away at a hotel with a water park, so I had impulsively booked one for that coming weekend. On our drive up to the Ingleside Resort I happily learned that my daughter, Malainey would be joining us all and so my impulse felt instinctively justified, like it was meant to be. We arrived, checked in, and made our way to the hotel room. Once we made it to the hotel room, in a frenzy I began organizing everyone’s belongings given that my goal was to get everyone in their swimsuits so that I could get to relaxing in the Jacuzzi and possibly with a cocktail in hand. As I was setting down the last opened suitcase in a place that was practical for easy access and went to find my swimsuit I was startled to find Kevin straight behind me down on one knee. As I turned, realizing he was proposing, all the children; Adelynn, Wesley, Alexander and Malainey were sitting cozy close together on the end of one of the beds with the utmost glee on their faces. All their eyes were as big and sparkly like one of those TY Beanie Boo stuffed animals and as I realized this was actually happening tears of joy overcame me before Kevin even got the words out. And so began our happily ever after.

How We Feel For Each Other

4 | ever

Angie: When I met Kevin, he seemed like the boy next door grown in to a man but he really was the bad boy gone good I always wanted. While I have to admit the chemistry I immediately experienced between us and his handsome good looks had me at first glance, it was his unwavering patience and playful side that really drew me in. He’s warmhearted, cares for me with a gentle firmness, while he is also gallantly generous and lovingly thoughtful. I can’t wait to call him, "my husband"! Kevin: From the moment my life changed direction my focus was not on finding love but then our eyes locked and I felt that this stunningly gorgeous woman was different than anyone I had ever known. As I got to know this caring, passionate and intelligent woman I saw that God does truly answers prayers while my dreams became my reality. I am overjoyed to finally call her, "my wife"! | We both would be so honored for everyone we love to join in our happiness as we make it official. |
