Flight
The closest airport is called the "Tri-Cities Airport" in Blountville, TN. Airport code: TRI. It is approximately 20 minutes from Kingsport (Kevin's House) and approximately 1 hour to the wedding venue. Flying into Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI) will be most convenient. This airport is small and extremely easy to navigate however, since it's a small regional airport, the number of flights and the variety of airlines are limited and can be more expensive. Rental cars are available at TRI. Alternative airports: Tyson McGhee Airport in Alcoa, TN, airport code TYS. This is the largest airport in the immediate area and offers more airline carriers and more flight times. It's located just South of Knoxville, TN. It's approximately a 2-hour drive to Kingsport (Kevin's House) however the drive is entirely interstate and is easy to navigate. TYS also offers more rental car and lodging options for those who may be coming in on later flights. Flying into the Knoxville area presents opportunities to explore Knoxville, the Sun-Sphere and more! About halfway between Knoxville and Kingsport, stop in at Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg to see Dolly Parton's hometown and experience a moonshine tasting or the Great Smokey Mountain National Park (beware of the amount of traffic during October). Alternatively, fly into Ashville, North Carolina, airport code AVL. Located about 90 minutes from Kingsport, the drive from Asheville to Kingsport is a very scenic route through the smokey mountains. AVL is small but sometimes offers flights cheaper than TYS or TRI depending on which airlines you may be flying. Explore Asheville, a very trendy town in NC known for craft breweries and its artistic scene. Rental cars are available at AVL. Hurricane Helene in Fall of 2024 devastated Asheville and all of the roads in and out, even wiping out the entire interstate. Roads may still be under construction in late 2025 so be sure to check routes ahead of time!
