It was just another school play that I was ushering to collect hours for National Honor Society. It was also a play that a lot of my friends were in so why not mix some work with some fun. After handing out multiple pamphlets to families, friends, and staff, the lights dimmed in the performing arts center to signal everyone to take their seats. I sat with some friends a couple rows away from center stage. Little did I know I was about to lay eye on the love of my life. Curtains open and there he was, standing center stage. I was in love! When the play ended, I ran up to him an gave him a hug and told him how great he did. The rest was history. Two strangers - one a super persistent senior girl, and the other a confident sophomore boy. Nothing could separate us!
It all started when one of my best friends (Lacey), texted myself and a bunch of our girlfriends to see if we would be interested in attending her job's silent auction where cocktails and desserts would be served. It was just a small fee for an open bar on a Saturday night so Kevin and I were in! Kevin then had the bright idea to go out to dinner at a restaurant I had been dying to try since a little girl - Moshulu before the silent auction. So on that day, I woke up, went for a run with my friend Sam (which I totally wiped out during and skinned my hands and knees), then went to the Penn Relays with my brother and soon to be fiance, then rushed home to get ready for dinner and the auction. At dinner, Kevin appeared a bit nervous. We were on a time schedule to get to the auction and the food came out late so Kevin pressured me to wolf it down. He called an uber and we hopped in and headed to the hotel that the auction was at. The uber dropped us off across the street and as we walked across it, Kevin stopped me on the median on Broad street in front of City Hall in Philadelphia. He looked me in my eyes, said some sweet words and then got down on one knee and popped the question. People on the street were cheering and clapping and I was in instant tears. A photographer was there to capture the moment. Kevin then said the auction was still on. So we walked into the hotel, followed the signs to the elevator for the auction and at the top of the steps my closest family and friends were there waiting for us as we walked out the elevator. They screamed "SURPRISE" and we celebrated and danced the night away! --- We can't wait to share another special night with you all on the day we get married! See you soon. ---
