We met in a modern-way, on a dating app, but had our first date at St. Mark's Coffee House near City Park - a coffee shop in town that we both love. The connection was instant and despite Cara's habit of talking a lot and too fast when she's nervous, Kevin left the date immediately knowing he wanted to get to know her better. We've since been on many dates together, including many city walks, mountain hikes, snowy adventures, and have traveled to Portugal and Iceland together. We celebrate "St. Mark's Day" every year with a trip to the coffee shop and just had our third "St. Mark's Day" in January!
Kevin conspired with Amy (Cara's twin sister) to surprise Cara with the proposal - the two of them picked out a ring together without Cara knowing. Then they made a plan - to get Cara out on a girl's night and surprise her there. Amy, Cara and Madeline (one of Cara's best friends) planned an epic end-of-year girl's night where they got their hair done, went to a sushi restaurant, and made a reservation at the Cooper Lounge in Union Station to get fancy drinks. After a drink and a toast at the bar, Amy and Madeline begged off to the "bathroom" (hiding in a corner with their phones ready and some tears) while Kevin slipped into the section and asked Cara to spend her life with him. She was SURPRISED and the proposal video is pretty much 60 seconds of her ugly-crying out of pure surprise, shock, and joy. The table was gifted lots of free champagne and they were all able to have a laugh about the surprise they had pulled off. It was a magical Christmas night at Union Station that Cara will never forget.
The wedding will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (where Cara's grandparents and many other family members were married) in Lower Highlands and the reception is at Upper Larimer - just across the river in River North. We can't wait to bring our families together and celebrate with everyone!
