This should have been brief, as every word prodded into this keyboard initiates a wondrous dialogue between us both clarifying our own version of events. However, one thing we do have in common is great depression. Not the mental health kind but major economic downturns. We met after Kevin and Steven bought a place in PB right as the housing market crashed in 2008. The one silver lining was the three hot ladies living next door. Kevin knew there was something about this girl and decided to minimize his chances of screwing it up by not opening his mouth. The strategy worked. Anne, Megan, Ash, and Allyson were a tight group of friends and well accustomed to the PB crowd, especially charlatans with funky accents trying to impress. Guys needed to hit a home run to make it to first base. Just before graduating to be a scientist, fueled by Red Bull and Monster energy drinks, Anne brought Kevin on bar crawl to celebrate completion of semester finals. Things would never be the same. Early one morning some time later, as the sunlight flickered through the roof patio of the Broken Yoke into the living room and Mel Gibson cried 'freedom' in his epic Braveheart adventure, the first kiss was stolen. Now that we find ourselves in a global pandemic with another major economic downturn, it seems fitting to seal the deal.
