We’d love for our family and friends to dress up with us! Formal attire is requested (i.e. dark-colored suits with jackets & ties, midi to full-length dresses). All of the day’s events will be held indoors, so you can plan accordingly.
Thank you so much for traveling to celebrate with us! We’ve reserved two hotel blocks near the reception to help with your search—details can be found on the “Hotels” page of this site. Please feel free to stay elsewhere if you have another preference. Wherever you choose, we recommend booking soon, as May is a busy month for Chicago hotels.
Ceremony: Guests may park in the Concordia University garage (accessible via Bonnie Brae Place) or in the Fenwick Priory Campus lot (accessible via Division Street). Both parking areas are free & adjacent to the church. Reception: Since the Harold Washington Library is located downtown, nearby parking space is limited. We recommend utilizing taxi, Uber or Lyft. The nearest secure public parking lot is located on the corner S. Wabash Ave. & E. Van Buren St. The SpotHero app is also a great resource to locate the best nearby parking rates.
Whatever you please! We’ve scheduled plenty of time to allow for stress-free travel between the church and the reception. Please be sure to arrive at the Harold Washington Library (State St. entrance) at 6:00 PM to get the party started!
If you're interested in utilizing public transportation, the CTA Green Line stops at Harlem/Lake (1 mile from Grace Lutheran Church). The Brown, Orange, Pink, and Purple Lines all stop at the Harold Washington Library station (State/Van Buren). Google Maps and Apple Maps both provide accurate routes and real-time information on train departures. For fares, tap-to-pay from major credit cards is accepted at the turnstiles.
