This huge park runs thru downtown along the Spokane River. It has recently been remodeled and has tons of paved walking (or biking) trails, views of the raging Spokane Falls, a Garbage Goat (be sure to go by and feed it), Gondola Rides, a Loof Carousel, a huge Radio Flyer wagon slide, Sculptue park, playgrounds and MORE
Spokane's newest neighborhood. Like most of the best in Spokane it is next to the River but up on a bit of a Bluff. Mixed use area with upscale Condos, boutique shops, galleries and lots of good restaurants. We suggest SORELLA for upscale Italian and for food with a view check out MARYHILL WINERY and VERSALIA Pizza.
This is Spokane's premiere park. Although it's not downtown next to lots of shopping and restaurants, it is a true gem and is just minutes away from downtown on Spokane's South Hill. With spacious manicured lawns, playgrounds, walking and biking paths, abounding flowers, topiary shrubs, ponds, a greenhouse conservatory, a cafe, scenic drives and a Japanese Garden, it's kind of a must see! We had fun this winter visiting the huge display of lights......it was a winter wonderland and even better in the Summer.
I went here a lot and lived the first few years of my life just up the road from here! In fact Riverside State Park backed right up to the house I lived in when I was born! Be sure to drive into the park and go to the Bowl and Pitcher area and walk across the amazing suspension bridge over the churning Spokane River below.
Check out RIVERPARK SQUARE for shopping lots of big name stores. But we really recommend visiting AUNTIES BOOKSTORE, BOO RADLEYS (for quirky gifts and lots of Spokane Souvies) and ATTICUS COFFEE and GIFTS. All the above are and easy stroll from Riverfront Park. Spokane has an abundance of great restaurants. Downtown WOODEN CITY is good and for a view go to the classic CLINKERDAGGERS and sit on deck outside and look out over Riverfront Park. A little farther north is DOWNRIVER GRILL or FLYING GOAT PIZZA. There are also lots of Breweries Wineries and even an award winning Distillery! Check out BELLWETHER, BRICKWEST, IRON GOAT (if you go to Riverfront Park you'll know why it's named this!) or NO-LI for craft beer. MARYHILL or BARRISTER for fine wine. DRY FLY DISTILLERY has some award winning whisky and other spirits.
