Jeff and Courtney first met in the Fall of 2013 at Geneseo. Courtney and her friend Lindsey were in front of Mamma Mia’s when they came across a golden retriever named Mason. Mason just so happened to be Jeff’s friend Andy’s pup, who invited Lindsey and Courtney back to his place for the perfect combination of tequila shots and puppy cuddles. Jeff was hanging out at the apartment when Courtney arrived, and Jeff and Courtney spent the whole night talking, just getting to know each other. Fast forward to the Spring of 2016, Jeff and Courtney had not spoken since that night. Jeff was up at Geneseo for alumni weekend, had lost his ID at a gas station, and had to beg his way into the bar with a picture of his Passport that his mom texted him. Courtney was in bed drinking a glass of wine cuddled up with a good book when Lindsey dragged her out to the bar. Lindsey spotted Andy (because the guy with the dog was always going to be more memorable), and there was Jeff standing next to him. Jeff and Courtney were inseparable that night at the bar, and Jeff offered to come back to Geneseo the following week to take Courtney out on their very first date. After a date over tacos and margs, it was pretty clear that these two were in it for the long haul, despite the 6 hour distance that separated them in their first year and a half together!

Courtney grew up camping in Allegany State Park, which always involved a visit to the waterfall where her dad proposed to her mom. Jeff took a page out of Courtney's dad's book, drove Courtney upstate 7 hours, and popped the question with a picnic in hand!
