Kesha and Derick's meeting was nothing short of fate. The couple met on Derick's birthday at a lounge called Carter's in Hollister, NC. It was November 1st and neither of them wanted to go out and socialize. But both the bride and groom had cousins who convinced them to go out enjoy a night on the town. Once at Carter's , the couple met and according the Derick, Kesha was "His birthday present from God."

Kesha & Derick were on their 3rd date and started talking about different foods of New York and North Carolina. Kesha stated how much she loved this certain donut. Derick then said "I'm going to take you somewhere." It happened to be Wilson Donut Shop. Derick brought some fresh donuts. Life moved forward and they had their ups and downs. Unfortunately, they had a two year seperation. Once reunited, Derick to Kesha he would never let her go again and Kesha responded with the same. About 6 months goes by and Derick ask Kesha's dad , John, If he was ready to give his daughters away? John stated take her son and don't bring her back. John told Derick that he always was his son and calls him son until this day. When Derick got the ring he asked Kesha's parents for their blessing. Then Derick went to the donut shop and put the ring in a box of donuts. Derick suggested Kesha go to bedroom. Kesha opened door and saw the box on bed, turned and asked "why the hell is a box of donuts on bed?" Derick say "just open it!" Kesha grabbed the box opened it and there was this black box inside. Of course Kesha smiled. Derick told Kesha "I want to spend a lifetime with you. Your my heart, my soul, my rib. Kesha will you marry me?" Of course she said YES!
