As most of you may already know, Matt and I are high school sweethearts. We met each other going into sophomore year. For me, it was love at first sight. As for Matt, he needed a little convincing. Our friend group was the same all sophomore year so we saw each other a lot and as time went by, Matt realized that I was the cutest girl at school (LOL my words not his). Fast forward to June 19, 2010 at the baseball fields across from my house. There on the bench that day Matt asked me to be his girlfriend and as they would say...the rest is history.
It was a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon. We had nothing planned for the day so Matt insisted that we take a hike at Hinckley Lake with our dog Beau. This was a normal thing for us to do so I didn't think anything of it. The only problem in Matt's plan was that I had been sick that day. After hours of him pacing back and forth around our apartment I finally got annoyed enough to go on a hike (if you know, you know). Once we got to Hinckley Lake we started walking our usual route. Not knowing that Matt was trying to find a spot to propose, I refused to stop and take any pictures because I was sick. As we walked along he suggested to go off path and take a trail in the woods we never go on. Still having no idea what was going to happen, I gave him the leash and followed his way. After walking for awhile we stopped at a little dock for a break. I was relieved and made a joke about finally getting to stop. That is when Matt handed me a piece of paper and told me to stay there and read it. Him and Beau walked around the bend and that's when I realized my life was about to change forever. When I finished reading the note I walked around the corner to Matt down on one knee and a sign around Beau's neck that said "Mommy will you marry daddy?". I had gotten the proposal of my dreams, just me, Matt, and Beau, our little family. Little did I know that Matt had arranged for both of our families to surprise me afterwards!!! Family means everything to me and Matt knew that so having everyone there to celebrate our love made the day that much better.
