The Story
Thomas and Mackenzie technically went to the same high school—but “met” would be a stretch. They ran in different circles, and while Mackenzie was best friends with Thomas’s cousin Erin, Thomas himself was mostly just a name in the background. An invisible string, quietly doing its thing.
Years later, that string tightened. Thomas made the decision to move home and join the family business. Around the same time, Mackenzie made her own big leap back home to start graduate school and become a speech-language pathologist. Different reasons, same small town, same timing.
Their first actual meeting happened at a local bar—proof that the universe has a sense of humor. By then, Mackenzie already knew half of Thomas’s extended family, so introductions were…efficient. From that night on, things fell into place quickly, like they’d been catching up instead of starting from scratch. Turns out the string had been there all along—just waiting for them to notice.
