Charlottesville farmers markets are apparently rated in the top 10 of the country. It's something local to do downtown on Saturday morning. The City Market is popular. Alternatively, you could check out The Farmers Market @ IX Art Park.

There are lots of places to eat and drink here, along with some shops.
King Family Vineyards
A cute and highly rated vineyard that's 20 minutes outside Charlottesville.
Saunders-Monticello Trail
We didn't write this: With native hardwood forest, deep ravines and spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the trail winds its way toward Monticello and back in a very manageable four miles. A maximum grade of 5% keeps it completely accessible to walkers, cyclists and those in wheelchairs.
Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint Cville
Right around the corner, Kerry's sister and MOH Dana highly recommends this place for their burgers and deep fried Oreo's. Open till 2am, its a great late night snack option

A great place for happy hour or dinner.
Bodos Bagels
If you want a quick breakfast sandwich, this no-frills place is great in the morning.
