We're Getting Married!

We met the summer of 2019, when Kerry got a summer job after high school working at the Lyon Oaks Dog Park. Ron worked at the golf course in the summer and at the dog park in the winter. This would be Ron's last weekend at the dog park before moving to the golf course for the summer. He was upset that his boss said he had to work the extra weekend to train Kerry. While working together that day, we instantly hit it off and talked all weekend while training, but we didn't exchange any contact information! The following weekend, Ron watched a 4-hour long movie about cricket that Kerry was talking about and wrote her a letter about it, putting it in her work mailbox to find. Kerry found Ron's number with coworker information at the park, and texted Ron, telling him how sweet his letter was. The rest is history!

Ron and Kerry planned a last-minute getaway to Charlevoix before Kerry started her new job. He teamed up with bridesmaid Sami, who had just moved to Traverse City, to pull off a surprise proposal. Sami’s mission was to hide in the bushes and capture the moment on camera while Ron and Kerry took their dog, Odette, to the neighborhood beach early in the morning, ensuring the place was free of strangers. Sami arrived early to find the perfect hiding spot, but when Ron looked for her, she was nowhere to be found! He quickly made up an excuse to leave Kerry at the beach and set off to locate her. After some searching, he found Sami and shared the details of his proposal plan. Since Odette wasn’t allowed off-leash at the beach, Ron tossed her toy, prompting Odette to chase after it with Kerry in tow. When they turned back, Ron was down on one knee, ready to pop the question. Instead of a quick “yes,” Kerry let out a series of joyful screams, her fists clenched in excitement, before finally saying yes! Sami captured every moment beautifully, and Kerry didn’t even notice her until she emerged from her hiding spot! After the big moment, we strolled through downtown Charlevoix, eventually stopping at the Cherry Republic for a bottle of sparkling cherry wine. We returned to the beach to toast our engagement while watching the sunset, creating a perfect ending to a magical day.
