The story begins at Trinity Chrsitian College in Palos Heights. As freshmen in 2016. At the freshman orientation Kerry was invited to tag along to a volleyball game with a group of people which included Case. When Case walked into a dorm room prior to the game, Kerry took one look at him and quite literally fell out of her chair, though he has no memory of this occurring. He spent a majority of the night flirting with her, a fact she was quite oblivious to. He took it as she was just not interested in him, but he didn’t quit there. Eventually his persistence proved too strong and she finally realized he was trying to get closer to her. What started as small gestures, private conversations, and great memories turned into the start of a new and exciting relationship. The start of the relationship occurred with a bit of adventure. Case’s father arrived in Illinois and picked Case and Kerry up in a plane, flying them back to Michigan. In the woods behind Case’s house, Case and Kerry shared their first kiss along with the official titles of “Boyfriend and Girlfriend.” Four years of memories later the couple have traveled to Costa Rica, gotten engaged, graduated college, lived through a pandemic, and are ready to finally say: “I do”!
On New Year's Day of the year 2020, Case had finalized his plan for the perfect intimate proposal. Case’s dad asked the couple to take the dog for a walk. They went into the very same woods where their relationship began. As the couple walked through the woods with the dog, Case began talking about all the years they had been together and all the highlights. They talked about the new beginning of 2016, the changing life situations of 2017, the adventures of 2018, the hardships of 2019, and a potential best year ever of 2020. As they approached the exact spot where they had their first kiss, Kerry’s focus was elsewhere. She was watching the dog run around and was once again oblivious to the obvious. Red and purple rose petals lie on the snow of the woods. When she finally noticed them, she initially thought someone ELSE had just gotten engaged there! When Kerry turned around, Case was already down on one knee and finally said those special words that would change everything: “Kerry Hopp, will you marry me?”
