How we met

Love at first swipe

Stephen and Kerrison met on a hot Tuesday in July 2016. They had "matched" on a dating website (Tinder) and had planned to meet at a restaurant in Charleston named Fuel. Kerrison was a law clerk, and after work, she rushed home to get ready for her first ever blind date. She had seen pictures of Stephen and found him to be extremely handsome, but other than that, she was in the dark. Stephen was running late after a long day in the hospital for his internal medicine rotation in medical school. Kerrison arrived first and parked a block away just in case she had to make an escape. She went inside, made friends with a group at the bar, and anxiously awaited her suitor. Stephen was excited to meet such a beautiful girl and hoped the two were compatible. When Stephen arrived, the pair immediately hit it off. They talked for hours about family, friends, goals and dreams. Kerrison knew this man was a perfect gentleman and hoped to see him again. Stephen fell for Kerrison that night but decided to play it cool without revealing his eagerness or interest in her. At the end of the date, Stephen walked Kerrison to her car and smartly waited a week before asking her out on a second date, which of course only made her more interested in him. After many boat rides, vacations, the start of their careers, and a move to a different city, the bride and groom are overjoyed to marry one another and to celebrate their love with the people closest to them. ** The bride and groom would like to thank Lindsay Howard for telling the bride she should join Tinder!

The proposal

First comes love, then comes marriage

On the first of February 2019, Kerrison thought she and Stephen were going to a medical conference in Charleston for the weekend. They were going to stay at the round Holiday Inn and enjoy a nice dinner Friday night at Circa 1886 (The restaurant at The Wentworth Mansion). Upon arriving to Charleston, Kerrison got ready for dinner at her dad's house, and Stephen checked in to the Holiday Inn and sent her photos of the view. Kerrison then met Stephen at the restaurant. The bartender mentioned that the couple should watch the sunset at the top of the cupola of the Wentworth Mansion. Kerrison noticed Stephen was acting differently (pretty weird actually) and thought it was because he had had a bad day at work. In an effort to cheer him up, Kerrison accepted the bartender's offer to go to the cupola. Along the way, she asked Stephen to take pictures. The winding, spiral staircase was beautiful! Stephen politely took ten or more photos and was sweating- hoping not to miss the sunset. The two climbed the staircase and looked out over the city of Charleston. Stephen dropped to his knee really fast. Kerrison was in shock, then sheer happiness. She could hear Stephen asking her to spend the rest of her life with him, and she could hear the shutters clicking from Franzi's cameras. Kerrison said YES!!! Then the two had a marvelous dinner, champagne toast and dessert at Circa 1886. One surprise after another unfolded. Stephen had gotten the grand mansion suite for the weekend. Roses and rose petals were EVERYWHERE in the suite, and the champagne was overflowing. The following day, Stephen had set up a couples massage and a small gathering with close family and friends. Kerrison still has all the feels when she thinks about this magical weekend and proposal.
