Some love stories start with a grand gesture, but ours started with family. Matt is Aunt Lisa's nephew, so we first met at church. But it wasn't until we both ended up at Tarleton State University-Matt pursuing his master's degree and me working on my bachelor's-that our connection truly began. When Aunt Lisa found out we were going to the same school, she confidently declared, "You're going to be my niece one day." Turns out, she was onto something! Our first date was a Kevin Gates concert, and while the music was great, the experience was... an adventure. We had standing-room-only tickets, and after spending the whole night packed in the crowd, we made a promise: never again! From then on, our bond grew stronger. For the longest time, we jokingly called each other "cousins," but somewhere between Sunday church services in Stephenville, home-cooked dinners, and watching Power together, we realized our love was something much deeper. Over the years, we've built a life full of laughter, love, and resilience. We've navigated career changes, family illnesses, the challenges of COVID-19, and loss-always finding strength in each other. Along the way we started traditions: attending the Bayou Classic every year, late night Whataburger runs, and making sure to watch Love Is Blind together whenever a new season drops. Then, on Christmas Eve, surrounded by my family, Matt gave me a gift-a pair of Ugg boots. Little did I know, the real surprise was inside. As I slipped my foot in, my toe hit something... and there it was —the ring. In that moment, with my parents and siblings around us, Matt asked me to marry him. And of course, I said YES! Now, we can't wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
