Todd and Keri started their relationship when they both worked at the Madeline English School in Everett, MA. Todd likes to say that they started dating because Keri fell in love with his athleticism at the faculty-student flag football game. However, what actually happened was that Todd pretended he liked candy so he could go into Keri’s office all the time to talk to her. Little did Keri know, he was giving the candy away to students and just needed an excuse to spend time with her.
After Todd and Keri had been dating for 6 months, Keri found out that she would be moving to Chicago to start her doctoral program. The relationship was new, and no one anticipated that it would survive the distance. Todd visited Chicago as much as he could, and Keri spent all of her breaks in Boston. After hundreds of Skype movie dates and FaceTime discussions, thousands of texts conversations, and 5 years later, they ultimately moved back to Chicago together to finally start their life as a couple in the same city.
Deciding to move back to Massachusetts was bitter sweet for Keri and Todd. They love Chicago, and it was so difficult to say goodbye. Once they were both moved back to Massachusetts, they decided to take advantage of all of the amazing things they took for granted when they lived in Boston before. They called it the “30/30 project” and spent the whole Summer going on adventures. The adventures included activities like escape rooms, sports games, exploring street art, and searching for the best fried shrimp. For the last adventure, they decided to complete the corn maze at Conners farm, as they love challenges and competition. At the end of the maze, Todd went to take the usual selfie to post on Facebook but then stopped and told Keri that he couldn’t take it because the adventure wasn’t over. At that moment, Todd got down on one knee and told Keri that he wanted to go on adventures with her for the rest of his life and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said, “Yes!” Because of the excitement and shock, they both pretty much blacked out and spent the next hours and couple of days, putting the pieces together, laughing, and reminiscing about the best moment in their lives.
