Question

What is a "Sensory-Friendly" Wedding?

Answer

Sensory-friendly (sometimes called Autism-friendly) means creating an environment where everyone, especially autistic guests, can enjoy the celebration without being overwhelmed by noise, lights, or crowds. There will be no live music played at the events. We prefer a quieter room. The bride will not be walked down the aisle; instead, she will enter in the same manner as the groom, accompanied by her wedding party. While background music will be played throughout the events, it will be turned off if needed. We are keeping our wedding small to accommodate these needs. The lighting will be normal or slightly dimmed. The Reception/dinner will only be dinner. No "crowd" events like dancing, speeches, or cake cutting.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal. Please wear your favorite formal outfit.

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

The weather around Seattle, Washington in May is likely to feature mild and mixed conditions. The week of the wedding should be upper 60's to 70 degrees. No rain is predicted.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the Ceremony and Reception are indoor with an outdoor 2 block walk in between.

Question

What happens after the Reception?

Answer

Guests can head to their homes/hotels while it's still light out, or come with us to a bar. Bride and Groom head to the beach for a sunset photo, sunset is at 8:41pm. Then we hit Harvey's Tavern for an after party.

Question

Are there other wedding events I can attend?

Answer

We are not having any other formal wedding events (e.g. wedding showers, rehearsals, bachelor/bachelorette parties) But we are planning to spend time with our out of town guests.

Question

Is there parking available near your wedding venue

Answer

Yes! Snohomish is a small town north of Seattle and there will be free street parking around the chapel and restaurant. Ideally you can park between the two event sites and only have one block to walk to your car before and after.

Question

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Answer

No. We do not have enough out of town guests to reserve a block of rooms for the discount. Please see our travel page for recommendations, or feel free to stay anywhere you are most comfortable. * * * PLEASE AVOID HOTELS ON AURORA / HWY 99 * * *

Question

Will there be transportation provided for the wedding and/or prewedding events?

Answer

No. We are a small group and can probably fit the entire guest list in 5 cars. Carpool if you can. Please drive safety.

Question

Where should we bring/send our wedding gift?

Answer

If you are mailing a gift, please send it to our home. If you are bringing a gift we will have a place for them at the Wedding Celebration restaurant, The Double Barrel. We will also have a card box available.

Question

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?

Answer

Yes, you are welcome to take photos, but we ask that you do not take photos at our ceremony location, as we have hired a professional to capture those moments. Please feel free to snap away during dinner!

Question

Can I post wedding photos on social media?

Answer

Please let us post first as we'd like to make a formal wedding announcement with our chosen images. Our hashtag is #SinkaHicks26

Question

Will there be a livestream or a videographer at your wedding?

Answer

There will not be a livestream for our wedding. However, we will have a videographer capturing the ceremony, the reception, and our sunset photos at the beach. We are very excited to share these videos with our friends and family who cannot attend, so we kindly ask for your cooperation with the videographer throughout the day.

Answer

Please respond by April 15th, 2026
