When Keren got a request for a freelance journalism gig, she would have never thought it would lead to love. Raul first laid eyes on her right outside the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. They were heading on a reporting trip three hours outside of Dallas to visit an inmate being held at a prison in Texas. Keren was the videographer and Raul was the audio producer. In the three-hour drive to the prison, the unexpected happened. They bantered, shared their favorite music, and missed a few exits getting lost in conversation. Their connection felt easy and effortless. But alas, Raul lived in New York, and Keren had just gotten a new job at NPR in Washington D.C. Months went by until they saw each other again at a gala in D.C., and talked the whole night away. Little did Keren know, Raul had come to the gala just to see her. The weekend trips began. Raul would come down to D.C., Keren would go up to New York City. They bonded over their love for fancy restaurants, traveling, and listening to reggaeton – the good things in life. Oh, and being single dog parents. On November 6th, 2022, he asked Keren to be his girlfriend. Although they were long-distance for two years, it was impossible to keep them apart. They were like each other's chicle (gum). In 2024, they moved in together to their Harlem apartment in New York City with their two doggies, Ozzy and Walter, and have since built a home together. Their days are filled with cooking, making coffee, baking sweet treats, binging their favorite T.V. shows, taking walks with their dogs, and exploring the city together. They’ve traveled all over the world, from experiencing the Grand Prix in Mexico City, to Día de Los Muertos in Oaxaca, to the breathtaking sunsets in Cabo. From jet-setting through Italy and taking a 3-hour boat to the little island of Capri in the Amalfi Coast to eating their weight in pasta in Rome. Oh, and that infamous time Keren got food poisoning in Cartagena, Colombia and Raul went into full caretaker mode. They’ve done cross-country trips to Los Angeles and San Francisco, Forth Worth, and Chicago to visit friends. And of course, visiting and spending time with our families in Connecticut, Texas, Chicago, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Punta Cana. And many, many Bad Bunny concerts later, Raul popped the question on a beach in Piñones, Puerto Rico. He surprised Keren by bringing her parents to witness the proposal. It was a magical and intimate moment with some of the most special people in their life — all while fulfilling Keren's dream for the romance to be captured on film. They are so excited to celebrate with their favorite people in the Dominican Republic, and bring together sus culturas y familias Puertorriqueña, Dominicana, y Mexicana! ¡Que viva el amor!
