Little did they know that once their paths crossed, the start of their lives had just begun. At perfect timing, they met before it was two months too late. For them, two months was all it took to start envisioning their futures together. From Keola’s subtle gym invites to Julio’s offers to escort her to her car. Someone was more oblivious than the other, that at one point he got an assist by a false fire alarm at Cal State Fullerton. Julio was waiting in a long Starbucks line, then Keola texted him about a shorter line at her location. Without letting her know, he went to get a matcha at the shorter line and left. The fire alarm went off soon after he entered a different building. He scootered back to where she was to say hi. We call it, “God’s alley oop to Julio in finding his way back to Keola.” They naturally gravitated towards each other, finding each other at each social gathering. Realizing they looked forward to seeing each other, they eventually started to hang out themselves. This is where all the mini golf “dates” took place and Keola would beat Julio, the now pro PGA golfer. Laughing at each other when Julio couldn’t mini putt the ball with any hills involved and when Keola would hit the ball into the water every time. Learning that directions and geography aren’t her thing while Julio doesn’t sing like Bruno Mars. It all happened so fast, their love for each other grew more and more. After hanging out for two weeks, Keola called her mom telling her she was going to marry Julio. Her response, “really? You just met him!”. Then, about two months later Julio caught on and knew he wanted to make her his for the rest of their lives. So, he asked Keola to be his girlfriend and they became official in August 2022. The sun was setting and is now a night they both will forever remember. Throughout their years of dating, they dreamt of having a life together. In May 2025, Julio proposed to Keola on a beautiful grass hilltop view of the ocean. They got married in June 2025 and are now looking forward to celebrating their love in April 2026 with all of their loved ones.
