15 minutes from SLO, this little beach town is a perfect vacation spot. Kraken Coffee, Blue Moon Over Avila, Mr. Rick's Bar, and Mersea's are some local favorites. For activities, try paddle boarding or kayaking in the bay or rent an e-bike and cruise the famous Bob Jones Trail.
Just outside of town, Edna Valley is known for their pinot noirs and gorgeous views. There are dozens of wineries to enjoy within a 5 miles radius. Some of our favorites include: Claiborne & Churchill, Wolff Winery, and Kynsi Winery.
Downtown SLO has a spot for just about everything. Here are a few of our favorite locations for food and drinks: Firestone Grill- A local staple! Stop in and get a tri-tip sandwich and a half-n-half basket (half fries and onion rings). You won't regret it. High Street Deli- Gourmet deli sandwiches that will have you doing geometry trying to figure out how to get a whole bite in. Beat the lines and order online well in advance. Bear and the Wren- Detroit style pizza. The Bee Stang Pizza is a MUST. Giuseppe's Italian- Great, classic Italian known for their Flatliner (Espresso Maritini) Feral Lounge- formerly Mother's Tavern, this newly renovated space feels like a big city lounge. Great cocktails and upscale American cuisine. Mistura Restaurant- If you're tired of BBQ and Italian, look no further. One of the few ethnic gems in SLO, this Peruvian restaurant offers a variety of dishes from sashimi to lamb shank, and you can't go wrong with any of their pisco sour cocktails!
We're lucky enough to live in a location with a hike or outdoor adventure in any direction! For hiking: Pismo Preserve, Bishop's Peak, or Cerro San Luis. Just up the coast, we have Montaña de Oro State Park outside of Los Osos/Morro Bay. If you're up for a mini road trip, Highway 1 will take you for some breathtaking views in South Big Sur. Try Morro Bay or Avila Bay for paddle boarding or kayaking.
