We're getting married!

Kenzi and Skylar’s story began in the sixth grade when a mutual friend introduced them at a school dance. Skylar was immediately drawn to Kenzi’s eyes, nicknaming her “Bug Eyes” in what he thought was a charming compliment. They quickly became inseparable as of April 1, 2010, dating through middle school and into freshman year of high school before going their separate ways. But Skylar never quite let go—spending the next several years trying to intimidate Kenzi’s boyfriends. Fate, however, had other plans. In May of 2021, they reconnected, proving that some love stories just need a little time to find their way back.

It was Kenzi’s birthday, and Skylar had planned the perfect surprise. They were at a Lana Del Rey performance in Newport on the water, something Kenzi never thought would happen—Lana’s music had been the backdrop to so many important moments in her life. Then, in a moment that felt like it was meant to be, while Chemtrails Over The Country Club played, the crowd parted and formed a circle around her. Skylar, standing in the center, dropped to one knee. The cheers that followed weren’t for the music, but for the couple—making the moment theirs in a way that felt both intimate and shared. It was grandiose, beautiful, and everything Kenzi had dreamed of.
