It was late evening in fall 2008. I was visiting a good friend of mine in college. She had recently moved into a house with all male roommates. As I creeped up the stairs to her room I noticed a room in the back, and peeked around the corner to investigate. There I spotted a handsome man reading in his bedroom. I was instantly attracted to him and pestered my friend to know more. Little did I know that moment would be the start of a decade long friendship, long distance courtship, and our greatest adventure.
Perfect girl. Check. Stunning ring. Check. How do I combine the two for an awesome proposal? One that was intimate but that involved our community to share in the love? There began the planning process. With the help of close friends and family, I achieved that goal. With the groundwork of deception, redirects, and cover stories laid for the 6 weeks prior, I guided Anna into a beautiful, intimate garden. I held her hands, gazed in her eyes, and asked her to be my wife. She was speechless (which we all know is RARE) with the biggest smile on her face. Little did she know I planned a surprise celebration afterwards with family and friends.
