We met our freshman year of college at The University of South Alabama through a dry erase board. Detric would come to the dorms and visit with one of my neighbors whom he went to high school with. He'd write on her dry erase board and I would go and erase what he wrote and write something new along with some kind of smart remark. This went on and on until he finally came and knocked on my door and we were formally introduced.

Our first outing was a “group“ movie date with friends. Our first official date was dinner at Olive Garden.

We love to eat! We’re foodies and love to try new restaurants. On a good day we also enjoy what I call "nap dates".

Detric planned a huge proposal and included all of our closest family and friends. He had one of my bestfriends really help him plan. He went as far as making sure my nail tech was back from maternity leave to do my nails in time. I was annoyed that day because I usually work on Saturday’s and my friend Shan had convinced me to take off of work because she was coming into town. I did and I felt like everyone was starting to bother me all at once. We had been talking about getting engaged so I knew it was coming I just didn’t know when...I honestly thought it was going to be that Sunday after lol. Detric sent me a text to meet him at the movies at 5pm and to not be late, I thought it was strange so I sent it to my friends and they all acted dumb founded, but had me running around looking for an outfit to wear on our "date". In my mind I was planning a morning of cleaning and brunch with bottomless mimosas with my friend. It turned into me running around looking for outfits and doing hair and makeup for this “movie date” lol so, by the time the date came I was pissed! I had cursed him and a few of my friends out from pure frustration and I told him that I didn’t mention going to see Queen and Slim so if Queen and Slim didn’t end with Detric and Kenya I didn’t want to be there. Lol (I’m a brat...I know) Needless to say I watched the movie and all a sudden he pulled out a blind fold...I instantly felt bad because I knew it was about to go down lol. He walks me to this area and I take off my blind fold and it’s all our friends and family holding up letters spelling “MARRY ME”. I started with the ugly tears, he gave a speech about our journey and how much he loved me and finally he got down on his knee and popped the question. I’m EXTREMELY nosy and I HATE surprises so the fact that he really pulled it off meant a lot.
