We met in high school, me a junior, him a sophomore as acquaintances in choir. We saw each other at class, concerts, & school events. Over time those moments brought us closer. He was the best guy on campus — always walking around with the biggest smile, always kind, always sweet, always helping others and everyone around him. That kindness was simply who he was, and he was especially sweet to me. He remembered the little things I liked and he would invite me to the movies or to hang out with friends, always finding ways to spend time together. Eventually, I found out he had the biggest crush on me and everyone knew it. But at that time, I truly only saw him as a friend. After graduation, we went our separate ways he went off to the military. Life got busy, and we slowly lost contact. Sometime later, he reached out and we started talking every day, catching up on life, He had grown into a different person in the best way. our late-night calls turned into deep talks, laughs, and flirting. I realized I had feelings for him I’d never felt before. When he came back to Bakersfield, we planned a little movie date. I was nervous, but it felt right. We got close, I made the first move and kissed him, the butterflies were instant. Then I made the second move and asked him to be my girlfriend. He smiled & said yes! and just like that, the rest is history.
