We met through our mutual friend, Sofie. Michael and Sofie met through Hudson, a Gwinnett Firefighter. Michael lived on the lake at the time and invited Sofie to hang out on his boat and told her to bring a friend. She brought me. We had a FULL day of soaking up the sun, boating, games, and meeting some of Michael’s family and friends. Since that day, we have basically been inseparable.
Michael came to visit me at work a couple of days after we met, and he took me to lunch. It was a short date, but we were so excited to see one another we couldn't wait any longer! That weekend, we went on a double date to an Atlanta Braves baseball game.
After months of hiding the secret from me, while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Michael proposed. It was New Year's Eve, and after a long day of traveling, the group went inside to take a nap and get ready for dinner/NYE party. We made plans with our best friends, Matt and Madison, to walk on the beach before dinner. While walking on the beach, a random (as far as I knew) local photographer walked up to us and asked if he could take pictures of us with the beautiful sunset in the background for his website. He said he needed a couple to complete his portfolio. I was very hesitant at first but because this was all a part of the plan (known to everyone else) they all encouraged me to take the picture. The photographer had us face away from each other, then as I turned around, Michael was on one knee and asked me to marry him.
