It all started in college, through a common friend who insisted that someone wanted to get to know Yani. That someone was Kent. At first, Yani wasn’t interested at all—she would even avoid him, thinking it was just a joke since Yani was a transferee. Their friend kept insisting, even getting a little frustrated, asking why she wouldn’t give him a chance. Eventually, Kent decided to take things into his own hands and messaged Yani himself. A simple “hi” turned into conversations—and that was how it all began.
Kent was consistent from the very start—always messaging, always showing effort. Yani, on the other hand, was a bit stubborn and guarded. Being an engineering student, she thought maybe Kent was just playing around. But Kent stayed steady. Eventually, Yani agreed to go out with him—their first date was at Burger King & Cobo Tea. What started as a simple meet-up turned into something more. From then on, they spoke every day, and Kent would patiently wait for Yani at school. After three months of consistency, Yani finally said yes. November 18, 2015—the day their story officially began.
Kent had always planned to propose early, but life had its own timing. Behind the scenes, he had already been searching for the perfect ring—even asking family abroad for help. By May 2025, he finally found “the one” and quietly kept it hidden (with the help of his mom). Before the actual proposal, there were a few “almost” moments—like their trip to Baguio, where Yani thought it was finally happening… but it wasn’t 😅 Then came Zambales. With their families already there (and secretly in on the plan), Kent brought Yani to a yacht. She didn’t expect anything—after all, Kent isn’t the type to make big scenes. But in the middle of a simple moment, while they were eating, Kent placed the ring in front of her and said: “Alam mo na… matagal mo nang inaantay ‘yan” On August 6, 2025, surrounded by smiles, love, and their families in the background—she said yes 🤍
From the beginning, their favorite thing to do was simple—eat and explore. New cafés, food trips, and spontaneous dates became part of their routine. No matter where they went, it was never really about the place—it was always about being together. As life grew busier, so did their shared interests. They started going to the gym, playing pickleball, and taking walks together—especially in Vermosa. Even in the simplest routines, they found comfort in each other’s presence, turning ordinary days into something they would always look forward to. Since they were still students, Kent often told Yani that love alone wouldn’t be enough to build a life together. That belief pushed him early on to explore different ways to earn—trying side hustles like selling ube flan, mushroom chicharon, perfumes, chocolates, thrift clothes, and coffee beans, eventually even opening a small coffee shop. Through it all, Yani was right there beside him—from commuting to Manila to pick up supplies, carrying heavy loads together, to experiencing both the highs of good sales and the challenges of slow days. She never left, never complained—only believed. In those quiet, in-between moments, Kent realized that love isn’t just about grand gestures, but about having someone who stays, supports, and chooses you every single day. That’s when he knew—it was always going to be her. When they need to unwind, they keep it simple—late-night drives, stopping by 7-Eleven for French vanilla, sitting at the back of the car, and talking about the most random things until they get sleepy. Sometimes, it’s also a relaxing full-body massage with hot stones—their favorite way to reset together. In those small, quiet moments, they find the kind of happiness that feels like home.
As they step into this new chapter, they look forward to building a life centered on faith, love, and family. They dream of a home filled with God’s presence, growth, abundance, and shared dreams—side by side in everything they do. More than anything, they’re excited for all the “firsts” ahead—especially traveling together, just the two of them, and experiencing the world hand in hand.
