We met on an Aggie Yacht Club trip to Matagorda Bay. My best friend invited me to come down from Lubbock, and Kent showed up to the beach a day late. He introduced himself and asked me to put sunscreen on his back - totally innocent, right? We hit it off, played volleyball, and sailed the day away. I went back to Lubbock the next day with a bit of a smile, but didn't think it was anything serious. Fast forward a few months to a Louisiana vacation with my family. Someone was pulling strings here, as Kent happened to be in the exact same town visiting his dad. Another great evening, another thought of "Wow, that was nice" as I drove home the next day. Fast forward to New Years Eve and we were both in Austin. We reconnected (again) a few days later, and the rest is history.
We'd just spent a long day helping his mother move to a new apartment. We were sitting on the porch drinking wine that evening when Kent got up and went inside. He came back out and went to bottom of the steps. He motioned for me to join him and after a bit of cajoling - I was really enjoying my glass of wine - he finally got me to come down, and before I knew what was going on, he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I thought he was kidding at first, as he liked to play that joke on me quite often. After a few rounds of "Are you serious!?" I finally believed him and said the best "Yes!" of my life. Later, I found out he'd had the ring in his possession for a whole day - turns out, he just couldn't wait ;) We're so excited to share this next chapter of our lives with you! See you in November!!!
