How We Met

Josh and I met on campus at Utah State University nearly six years ago. If you’ve never been to USU or Logan, Utah, you should visit at least once. It’s not exactly a tourist destination but it was a beautiful place to fall in love. Josh made me feel comfortable, safe, and heard from our first conversation. We discovered how much we had in common and became fast friends. After some time casually dating I decided I didn’t want to spend another day without him, and from then on we saw each other nearly every day. My memories of this time are full of study rooms, crazy roommates, canyon drives and everything else you’d expect to experience in college. I didn’t know it then, but I was experiencing it all with the love of my life.

Baby Makes Three

Josh and I spent the next couple of years after college as a young, carefree couple. We had both started new careers, mine in beauty and Josh in marketing, and moved in together after we came home from college. In late 2019 not only did Covid-19 begin to spread around the world, but Josh and I learned we were about to be parents. I spent the majority of my pregnancy working in retail during the pandemic, yes it sucked but I was lucky enough to have a healthy, complication free pregnancy. After 12 hours of labor on August 1st 2020, Demi Eliza Valle was born. She looked exactly like her father, her big brown eyes wide open with curiosity, already showing her personality. I couldn’t believe how small and delicate she was. And then we had to leave with her and just be parents. Let me tell you we had no idea what we were in for! Looking back, the first months of Demi’s life were some of the hardest and the best days of our lives. We became a family, so… now what?

Happily Ever After

In 2020 Josh and I went through a lot. On top of being new parents we were balancing stressful jobs and things weren’t always perfect between us. Demi came down with Covid at just 3 months old, a true pandemic baby! She did just fine, but tragically we lost my Grandma Darla in December after her battle with the disease. The grief of her loss made the days even harder, and it wasn’t until later into 2021 that Josh and I were able to see how little attention we had given our relationship. We started new jobs, moved into a new place, and made the commitment to rebuild the partnership that started our family in the first place. We fell in love all over again, this time as two (kind of) responsible adults and parents. We chose to put each other first and build a home full of love for our baby girl. On December 13th 2021 Josh proposed, and, well, you know what’s next. We’re getting married! It’s time to tie the knot and get on with the rest of our lives. It feels like happily ever after but it’s only the beginning.
