How we met?

Michigan Winters + Indoor Golf = Pure Love

In the winter of 2022, life brought us together in the most unexpected (and very on-brand) way: at X-Golf. Allie was working as an Assistant Golf Professional for the off-season, and Ian was doing his best to keep a golf game alive with his Monday crew. Every week, like clockwork, the boys rolled in around 10 AM, turned the TouchTunes to Morgan Wallen, ordered a bucket split between Bud Heavy and Coors, and took two shots of Jack to get things going. We saw each other every Monday, but everything changed one morning in late January 2023. It was unusually busy, Allie was stressed, and Ian’s group happened to be the only regulars in the building. In the middle of the chaos, Ian gently wiped away a stress tear and said, “You’re too pretty to cry.” (It worked. Obviously.) That day, Ian told Allie he’d be gone for a few weeks on vacation. She mentioned she’d be heading back outdoors to the golf course for the summer — but that we should find time for all of us to play together. So she gave him her number. And on March 16, 2023… everything began. The texts, the tee times, the laughs, the instant “this feels different.” And from that day forward — here's to furever! 💕

Our First Date~

03.16.23

After a little time apart — settling into work and returning from vacation — we already knew the basics. What we didn’t know was just how quickly everything was about to fall into place. Naturally, Ian wanted to take Allie to her favorite local taco spot, Maiz. He’d heard about those chips and salsa far too many times to wait any longer — he needed proof. Over tacos, chips, a few prickly pear margaritas, and one seriously good conversation, something shifted. We didn’t know exactly where things would go… but we both knew this felt different. Complexly Easy. Comfortable. Right. And then, in the parking lot, Ian sealed the deal with a kiss — the kind that makes you realize life is about to change in the best way. From that moment to this one… these will be the best chips and salsa yet!

Well then what???

What happens next~

Allie and Ian moved in together pretty quickly — and instantly began building a life that felt like home. Allie brought her Olde English Bulldogge, Tucker, her Siamese queen Ella, and a heart big enough to love every animal on the planet. Ian arrived with Stella, the loyal lab mix; Cassie, the stealthy sheepdog; and Kidder, the mysterious black cat who appears only when he feels like it. Together, our little crew blended into one perfectly chaotic, love-filled family. Our shared love for animals, sports, adventure, and really good food has shaped the life we’re building today. And the best part? We know the next chapters of our adventure book will be even better — and we can’t wait to write them together.

The Question.

10.18.25

He planned it all out just right. Ian started by pulling in Allie’s sister, Lauren — letting her in on the secret and asking for her help to make the moment perfect. With Lauren’s guidance and a whole lot of nervous excitement, Ian went to meet with Allie’s parents, Bill and Beth, to ask for her hand in marriage and to become her partner for life. With joyful apprehension (and maybe just a little reluctance), they said yes. Beth, especially, couldn’t wait to help plan something special for her firstborn. Allie had been begging for fall family pictures — so Beth decided this was the perfect opportunity. She casually added a family breakfast to the calendar and followed it with a not-so-subtle suggestion that they should take photos for the Christmas card. Much to Allie’s surprise, those “family pictures” turned into the most unforgettable moment — a dream proposal just steps from where we had our very first date in Depot Town, Ypsilanti. It was perfect: surrounded by family, wrapped in fall colors, and standing in a place that already held so many memories. We’ll cherish that corner of Depot Town forever — and now it’s officially stamped into our adventure book for life.
