A mutual friend told Kenneth about Rachel. The two began to talk and text for a few weeks. The first time they saw each other and were able to get to know each other a little more was at a women's basketball game at Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School.

Rachel won a photo shoot contest on Instagram and planned it for May 17, 2019. Kenneth messaged the girl who would be taking the pictures to tell her that he wanted to propose during the photo shoot. The morning before the couple was supposed to get their pictures taken, Kenneth met with the photographer to plan the exact location that he would propose. He gave the photographer the ring at this time so he didn't have to hide it from Rachel. Kenneth and Rachel met the photographer to take pictures, and after one of the pictures, Kenneth proposed to Rachel.
