We recommend Airbnb! Airbnb.com allows you to rent an entire home/apartment. The home will be privately owned and allows for a unique accommodation experience while generally saving money. If this sounds appealing, please type in Girona, Spain into the Airbnb website to see listings of homes available. Ken has used Airbnb extensively, and will be glad to help if you have questions. There are BEAUTIFUL homes/apartments to be found in Girona, which is the main city of the region. It is about a 20 minute drive to the villa where the wedding and reception will take place. Barcelona has hundreds upon hundreds of Airbnb homes to choose from as well. Example of two awesome Airbnb apartments available in Girona ($61 and $62 a night, respectively) 1. https://abnb.me/Ch89RHrIkP 2. https://abnb.me/G5TwtX1HkP Please see the pro tips below if you’re going to use Airbnb! Also, please see the hotel question below if you would prefer to stay in a hotel!

Of course we do! 1. Book early. I usually book Jan. to Feb. for summer trips. But if you see a place you like, feel free to try even earlier. Sometimes it might be too early, but it’s worth trying if the place looks great. Somebody else might book it if you wait too long! Book now? Why not! 2. Book with a “Superhost.” Superhosts are generally more reliable, have great reviews, and overall will provide a better experience. To search for them specifically, click on “filter” while you’re searching and click the “Superhost” button. 3. Turn on the “Entire place” filter when searching! That way you get the whole place to yourself and you’re not staying with the owners or random people, unless you’re into that, then by all means. Again, please call Ken if you want any help with using Airbnb. These pro tips are not comprehensive, so he can walk you through how to use it with ease. Have fun and explore!
Kayak.com or Google flights. We use the Kayak.com app to track flights. By setting up a tracker with Kayak, we get a daily update (phone notification and email) about flight prices to see if they have lowered to a price we want to purchase. As of the day we are writing this (October 30th), round trip flights to Barcelona from LAX are $568 flying American Airlines/British Airways with a layover in London both ways. Tips: We like to book early. Flights have been cheaper the last couple years, so it’s up to you when you want to book. We generally do so around October, but we might do so even earlier this year. Also, we usually don’t actually purchase the flight though Kayak. We search for flights using Kayak and then go to the normal airline website to book the flight (unless that is not an option). Google flights owns Kayak. So that is another solid option if you prefer their search format.
Nancy and Ken will rent a car once they fly into Barcelona. By renting, they can get to Sils/Girona, and they can explore Costa Brava and run errands for the wedding. We recommend this if you want to explore the region, for flexibility or if you’re staying at the villa. Don’t want to rent a car/only want to explore the main cities (Barcelona/Girona)? Instead of renting a car, explore Barcelona on foot/use public transport. To get to Girona, take a train (about 40 min.). We’ve read online it’s best to book the train in advance for cheaper tickets. You can explore Girona on foot/taxi and use a taxi to get the wedding and reception on the 22nd. Exploring the rest the region (beach/country) would be more effort without a rental car.
If you would like to give a gift, please do so by using the registry options provided here and having the gift sent to Nancy’s address rather than bringing it to Spain. Thank you.
Two love birds ‘bout to get hitched. You didn’t know?

Yes! We have two hotels listed under the travel tab on this website, which get great reviews and that are reasonably priced. They are both located in Girona, about a 20 minute drive to the wedding venue.
