Although Kenneth and Ishelis have officially been a couple for nearly three years, their story began long before that—seven years ago in high school. Ishelis was a freshman and Kenneth a sophomore when their paths first crossed at Denbigh High School. Kenneth had noticed Ishelis at church and never imagined he would soon see her at school as well. Unsure how to introduce himself, he admired her from a distance—until the day their worlds finally aligned. Kenneth had a soccer game, Ishelis had a softball game, and through a mutual friend, he found the courage to say hello. Ishelis was surprised, feeling she recognized him but not knowing from where—until that moment. From then on, every encounter was filled with friendly smiles and short conversations that slowly grew into something deeper. On New Year’s Eve 2019, heading into 2020, everything changed. Sitting together at church, they talked for hours about their lives, dreams, and faith, opening up in ways neither had expected. That night continued with long phone conversations, and with each passing day, their connection grew stronger through late-night talks and frequent encounters at church and school. A few months later, they made the difficult decision to remain just friends, believing it was best at the time. Life moved forward—Kenneth graduated and left for college—but neither could truly let go. Kenneth couldn’t forget the way Ishelis loved him and saw him, a love he felt reflected the way the Lord saw him. Ishelis, too, tried to move on, but realized no one loved her the way Kenneth did. With little communication, she believed their story had come to an end. Then, in April 2022, everything came full circle. Kenneth returned home from his first year of college, and they unexpectedly ran into each other at church. The feelings they thought had faded came rushing back. They caught up, and Kenneth invited Ishelis to attend a church lock-in before he returned to school. After some hesitation, she decided to go—and that night became a turning point. They shared their true feelings and chose to grow closer again, this time with intention. Over the following months, their friendship deepened, and in December 2022, they went on a date before Kenneth returned to school. From that moment on, the rest was history. They made the most of every break, celebrated Valentine’s Day together, traveled, served on mission trips, and supported each other across universities. On June 23, 2023, they officially became a couple. Since then, their love has only continued to grow—through countless dates, visits, adventures, and shared faith. Now, seven years after their story began, Kenneth and Ishelis are ready to begin their forever. On July 23, 2026, they will finally say “I do” and step into the next chapter of their lives—together.
