Kenny and Alicia’s story began in 2019 at Eastside’s Young Adults Ministry. Though they shared the same crowd for three years and exchanged only a couple of quick hellos between then, their friendship didn’t really begin until spring 2022. In April 2022, a mutual friend planned a karaoke night. That night, Alicia officially introduced herself to Kenny, and from there, their friendship grew little by little.

By June, Kenny realized he had a crush on Alicia and decided it was time to make his move. He invited Alicia to his workplace, a music store where they would host their monthly Open Mic Night. Alicia agreed to attend and brought a few friends, but she wasn’t ready for what happened next. In front of his coworkers, her friends, and a room full of strangers, Kenny took the stage and dedicated his song to Alicia. He sang “Something About The Way You Look Tonight” —her favorite Elton John song. Alicia’s friend Dayana (now the Matron of Honor) encouraged her to invite Kenny to a group hangout the next night at Hive & Honey. Sparks flew, and soon after, Kenny officially asked Alicia on a date.

Their first date took them to the Anaheim Packing House, where they spent hours talking and laughing. Neither wanted the day to end, so they quickly booked tickets to see the new Elvis movie. What Kenny didn’t realize was that he had accidentally picked a Korean theater. As they were getting closer to the theater, Kenny started giggling as he realized where they were going. They laughed it off and decided to go through with the plan. Fortunately, the movie was in English—but the screen was dominated by giant Korean subtitles. They enjoyed the show, and agreed that their first date was unforgettable. After many more, they made their relationship official on July 26th, 2022.

On April 27th, 2024, Kenny took Alicia to Orange Hill Restaurant for a scenic hilltop breakfast overlooking the city. They made their way to Castaway Park in Newport, where a hidden Kaleb (now the Best Man) was waiting with to capture the moment. As they approached the spot, Kaleb was immediately spotted by Alicia. But the plan didn’t need to be perfect. Overjoyed for what was to come, they all shared a laughed. Kenny dropped to one knee, asked Alicia to marry him, and she said yes! They celebrated the day with smoothies, a trip to Newport Beach, and a family dinner that brought everyone together. On May 3rd, 2025, Kenny and Alicia will say “I do” and begin their greatest adventure yet—one filled with love, laughter, and hopefully without Korean subtitles.
