We met at a KDR White Trash Bash homecoming party (yes, really—LOL). From the moment we started talking, we couldn’t stay away from each other. We like to joke that after that night, "he/she just kind of never left," and honestly, it's true. Before we knew it, we were inseparable, spending every day together—and we haven’t looked back since!
The night before our engagement, we attended a birthday party for one of our best friends. Naturally, we had a little too much fun and woke up the next morning not feeling our best. Poor Walker had an entire day planned for us—shopping, lunch, and just spending time together—but getting me out of bed was a challenge. Let’s just say his carefully planned day didn’t go as expected because I could not bring myself to move. Finally, after much convincing, I got up and got ready for what Walker told me was a special “anniversary dinner” since our fifth anniversary was just around the corner. As I was getting dressed, I noticed Walker staring at my feet. Confused, I asked what he was doing, and he immediately started begging me to paint my toes. I laughed and told him, "It’s October, Walker—pedicure season is over!" But he was relentless and refused to let me leave without at least one coat of polish. At this point, I was annoyed—hungover, irritated, and very hungry. But to appease him, I quickly painted my toes, and we finally got in the car. As we drove, Walker put the GPS on the screen and told me we were heading to a “nice restaurant.” However, as the GPS announced we were two minutes away, I looked around and noticed we were nowhere near a nice part of town. Confused, I turned to him and asked, “Where the heck are we?” He didn’t respond—just kept staring out the window. "Hello???" I said (surely, you all can hear me saying this). Finally, he turned to face me, and his eyes were filled with tears. At that moment, I knew exactly what was happening. Walker led me to a beautiful spot he had decorated with the help of our closest friends and family. Overlooking all of Fort Worth, it was breathtaking. He proposed, we cried, we laughed, and I said, "Oh my gosh," at least 20 million times before we headed to dinner to celebrate. As we ate, Walker asked me to hold off on calling anyone—he wanted us to have a little time together before sharing the news. After dinner, he suggested we take a walk to a local ice cream shop in Sundance Square. It sounded like the perfect way to end the night! But as we were paying for parking, I simply couldn’t wait any longer—I had to call my mom! Oddly enough, she didn’t answer, which was alarming because she always answers, and Walker had told me she knew what was happening. I called again—straight to voicemail. My feelings were so hurt! As we walked toward the ice cream shop, I suddenly spotted the photographer from our engagement taking pictures of us. Confused, I turned to Walker and asked, "What is she doing here?" Just then, I saw him tearing up again, and suddenly, flashes started going off, people began screaming, and I noticed a huge crowd waiting for us. Walker had planned a surprise engagement party with all of our family and friends! It was the best day of our lives, and we still talk about it almost every day. Nothing was more special than celebrating with the people we love most and stepping into this new chapter of our lives together.
