There are all kinds of love stories. Love at first sight. Friends turned lovers. Ours? Ours took some time. The first time we met was at the AMC theater in Council Bluffs back in 2018. My friends were all going to watch Bohemian Rhapsody and one of those friends brought Kennedy along. Kennedy ended up in the seat next to me. We exchanged brief conversation before the movie started but never quite hit it off. She was annoyed that I was trying to talk to her throughout the previews. She takes the previews very seriously; keeping a running list on her phone of future movies to watch. Those early times are foggy for us both. We both recently remembered our second encounter. Again, it was with a group of my friends and Kennedy joined the fun. We got dinner at Leadbelly’s in midtown. It was there our shared love of food showed itself. I introduced Kennedy to poutine, and of course she ended up loving it. Somewhere in there, we exchanged numbers and had a few fleeting conversations. Again, food being the favorite topic of choice. We’d both go to a lot of movies and dinners over the next 2-3 years but never together. I was starting my career at Conagra and Kennedy was finishing up nursing school. We wouldn’t connect again until early 2021. saw and recognized each other on a dating app and had yet another fleeting conversation. Only one month later we would connect again, but this time…it stuck. It was then we realized we already had each others numbers from many years ago. Corey’s contact in Kennedy’s phone at that time was “PF Chang’s Guy Corey ” because that’s what I was working on at Conagra when we first met. It wasn’t long after that we had our first date. Broncos and a Lancers game. It was that day that I got to witness her caring heart. I called her to tell her we may have to postpone the date because I needed to take my Business HR final but my laptop wouldn’t allow the private server to connect. She quickly offered to bring me her laptop just hours before the date was supposed to begin. We ended up eating the burgers in the car as we hurried to the game. We ended the night meeting my best friend and his now fiancé at Full House where Kennedy carried us to a big come from behind darts victory hitting bullseye after bullseye. We haven’t stopped being partners since that night. We spent the next two years traveling all over the country for endless weddings, trips back to Berne/Purdue, family vacations, and a couple excursions. Two years together has absolutely flown by. There was no question that this was our love story. Corey proposed to Kennedy in April 2023 on the rooftop of Cascio’s Steakhouse, which has been in her family since 1946. We’re committed to a lifetime of movie nights, cooking dinners, and competitive game partners. We are so blessed by the amazing blend of family and friends around us. We’re so excited to have you all join us to celebrate our love story.
