FAQs

Question

What date should I rsvp?

Answer

Please RSVP by the 1st of August, 2025.

Question

Dress code?

Answer

Welcome Dinner: Cocktail attire Rehearsal Dinner: Semi-formal Wedding Day: Formal - We kindly ask that all guests wear our wedding colors—blue and/or green. To maintain the look and feel of the celebration, please refrain from wearing white or black. Thank you for your understanding! For style inspiration, we've created a style guide along with color swatches. Feel free to check it out here: https://pin.it/4FLYhPIT6. For our outdoor adventures—such as horseback riding, skeet shooting, and castle tours—please dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. Lauder in November can be chilly, so we recommend layering up with warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and weather-resistant gear. Don't forget a jacket, as it could get quite cold, and be prepared for occasional rain. Guests staying in the cabins may also enjoy the hot tubs, so feel free to bring swimwear if you'd like to relax after the day's activities.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Our intention is to keep our wedding small with our very most important people (you!) there. Please only bring a plus one if designated on your invitation.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

While we would love to host your little ones as well, we request no children be in attendance our wedding weekend.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for! However, if you'd like to contribute to our honeymoon, we've set up a honeymoon fund to help us create unforgettable memories together. Instead of a traditional gift registry, any contribution to our honeymoon fund would be greatly appreciated. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We are excited Thirlestane Castle offers a variety of fun outdoor activities, including horseback riding, archery, falconry, whiskey tastings and more. These activities will take place during the day on our rehearsal dinner day, the 14th. These experiences are available at an additional cost, and guests interested in booking these activities, please contact Monica McGloughlin at events@thirlestanecastle.com. On our rehearsal day, we’re excited to offer complimentary activities including castle tours and afternoon tea. The grounds are expansive, so feel free to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the stunning scenery. There’s something for everyone, and we can’t wait to share these special moments with you!
