Although we had been in classes together for over a semester, we officially met at a joint fraternity and sorority executive board meeting. After the meeting wrapped up, Kenna asked Peyton if he'd already finished the homework and, more importantly, if he'd send her the answers (he did). Over the next year and a half, we survived plenty of math classes together, shared homework, and somehow Kenna still managed to score just a little higher than Peyton on every test. Our friendship grew quickly and everyone eventually referred to us as the "math friends." We quickly realized we had more in common than just calculus. We both wanted to become teachers because we cared about making a difference in other people's lives, and that shared passion brought us even closer. As we spent more time together, Kenna invited Peyton to meet her family during Ball State's Family Weekend. When she introduced him, she simply said, "This is my math friend, Peyton." We look back on this and laugh. Eventually, we realized we were becoming a lot more than math friends. Before making things official, though, there was one final opinion that really mattered, Kenna's dog, Mazie. Luckily, Mazie approved of Peyton right away, and that was all the reassurance she needed. Since 2018, we've grown up together through college, new jobs, and all of life's changes/challenges. We've always encouraged each other to keep learning, keep growing, and become the best versions of ourselves. After moving to Indianapolis, we found a love for trying new restaurants and finding the best hiking trails. Eventually we added in another math friend, Moose, who enjoys finding new trails a little more than us. In October 2025, we took a trip to Gatlinburg to explore the Great Smoky Mountains. After hiking to the highest point in the park that morning, Peyton made one more unexpected stop on the drive down. At a scenic overlook, he got down on one knee and asked Kenna to marry him. It was a simple question that led to the easiest answer and one of our favorite memories together. What started with sharing math homework has grown into a life built on friendship, encouragement, laughter, and love. We're so grateful for the journey that's brought us here, and we're even more excited to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter with all of you!
