Question

Who's attending?

Answer

Want to coordinate travel with your fam/besties? Here's a list of everyone who responded to our soft RSVP request: https://bit.ly/3qQPLSM

Question

When should we arrive & depart?

Answer

The wedding itself is on Wed. July 20, 2022. You can stay as long or as short as you’d like – but we’re thinking of this as a “wedding week,” the one week in your otherwise busy year that you set up an autoreply on your email and spend a week in the sun with friends & family. There’s so much to do on Lake Como - swimming, speed boating, kayaking, hiking, ziplining, canyoning, touring gorgeous centuries old buildings & gardens, stalking George Clooney, texting your friends that you saw George Clooney even if you didn’t, visiting the filming locations for movies like Star Wars & James Bond, eating tons and tons of ridiculously delicious pasta with fresh local seafood right from the lake, having gelato not once, but twice every single day. We plan to arrive on July 15 and depart on July 25 - please join us for as long or as short as you’d like.

Question

Tell me everything I need to know about travel!

Answer

We made a comprehensive Lake Como Travel Guide with information on flights, hotel/AirBnB, and ground transportation. If you did NOT receive this guide by email already - email Helena - helenarbowen@gmail.com.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

For the wedding ceremony & reception: cocktail attire. The boat ride to the venue is 1-hour each way, so we recommend bringing sunglasses & a light jacket/sweater if you'll be cold. Ladies, you'll be getting on/off of boats and standing on grass/gravel at the venue, so take that into consideration when you're choosing footwear (in other words, crazy spiky stilettos are a risky choice).

Question

What should we pack?

Answer

See notes above about Wedding Ceremony dress code. Additionally: - Assume that it will be a high of 85 & a low of 55 degrees Fahrenheit, with a chance of rain. - Bring light-weight casual clothes & layers for wandering & sightseeing. - Bring swimsuits, cover-up, sunscreen, sunglasses, & water-friendly footwear for swimming, boating, kayaking, etc. - If you're fussy about standing on slippery rocks at the bottom of a lake & can't escape the notion that your foot might touch a creature (like Helena is), bring water shoes. - If you want to go hiking, bring adequate footwear. - Bring slightly nicer / dressier clothes for restaurants & bars at night - but nothing super fancy. - Our wedding ceremony is NOT in a church, but if you plan on going to any churches in your sightseeing rounds, make sure you have adequate clothing to cover your shoulders & knees.

Question

Will George Clooney be at your wedding?

Answer

Yes, this is the most frequently asked question of them all. It's true - George lives at Villa Oleandra, just 1.3 km away from our wedding venue. But, unfortunately, no. As of this writing, George will not be officiating or attending the wedding.

Question

I don't speak Italian. Is that a problem?

Answer

Totally fine. Italy's #1 industry is tourism so MOST Italian's you'll encounter speak enough English for you to communicate with them. But, if you want to be polite, I recommend memorizing the following phrases: - Hello / Goodbye = Ciao - Please = Per favore - Thank you = Grazie - Where's the bathroom? = Dov'è il bagno? - May I have the check? = Il conto per favore
