Their story began with an unmistakable spark at first sight. In winter 2022 at Drexel University, Maya and Kendrick first crossed paths outside the campus library, both immediately struck by each other. They made eye contact and hoped their paths would cross again. Fate intervened, and a campus mixer brought them together again, both hoping the other would be there. At the mixer, Maya made it clear she was interested, and Kendrick noticed, his heart dropping when he saw her. Their connection deepened quickly, turning into a lasting relationship. After graduation, Kendrick moved to Texas for work, and Maya secured her externship nearby so they could stay together. They planned to marry, but Maya didn’t know when Kendrick would propose. On New Year’s Eve at church, Kendrick called Maya up to the stage with a special message. He proposed in front of the cheering congregation, with Maya’s family watching on FaceTime. September 14th 2025, was Kendrick's and Maya's first time visiting IMRSN church. This was also the first-ever 12:30 pm service for IMRSN. During this service, the pastor of IMRSN, Pastor Brandon, pointed Kendrick and Maya out in the crowd, brought them to the front, and prophesied over them. God spoke through Pastor Brandon about how important their union was not only to them but also to so many other people around them. Kendrick knew this was the final confirmation he needed to know that there was no time to waste. And just like that, at IMRSN's New Year's Eve service after bring the New Year in, Kendrick Proposed. In that moment Kendrick called up Maya and said "You are beautiful, caring, loving, intelligent, and a true woman of God. You have been my teacher, my supporter, my friend, my accountability partner, and my lover. You have impacted my life tremendously in a span of 3 years, and I am forever grateful that God has blessed me with a woman of your caliber. And so today, in this church, will you make me the luckiest man in the world and marry me?" Maya said, "Yes."

A love that began at first glance and was meant to be is firmly rooted in the love of Christ. God ordained our paths to cross and join together for this specific time. Though we are not perfect, we are growing and maturing in love and fellowship with God each day. We witness God's faithfulness in our lives as we submit to Him and His will, trusting that He will continue to build our union and our home. Psalm 127:1 says, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” This is the scripture on which we as a couple are firmly standing as we journey into marriage and life.
