We met in the most romantic of places: the sales floor at Target. Jon had just transferred stores, and I'd only been there a month and a half. He was assigned to help out in my section of the store; A Block. I was hesitant to talk to him at first because I thought he was cute, so I just kept glancing over at him until he finally had enough and spoke first. His icebreaker? “Is there usually a lot of back-stock in A Block?” Sparks. Well, not quite yet—but close! He only worked weekends, so I had to wait a whole week for my next shot. Somewhere in all the back-stock from A Block I found the courage to ask him if he had in fact been flirting with me for the last several hours. Spoiler: he was! Of course, the bravery was short-lived because I just giggled uncomfortably when he asked me the same thing. A moment of silence passed before he said, “How about I give you my Snapchat so we can talk outside of work instead of me doing your job for you?” Ha. Ha. ... obviously I added him. Our first date was to a haunted forest (because nothing says romance like screaming bloody murder in the middle of a dark wooded area). He claims that I tricked him into going by asking vaguely, then clarifying it was a date after he’d said he was free... I maintain that I was just being charmingly awkward. I won him over with the funniest, not-at-all-cringe, most clever jokes the world has ever known, and he captured my heart by loving my cat, Maple, so much so that he helps give her baths and trims her pants and fluffy toe hairs, despite once insisting he hated all cats. Now, here we are—planning a wedding, building a life, and continuing to laugh together every day. We can’t wait to celebrate this next adventure with you!
