Billy and I met through our close friends Kyle and Leigh Anne. In late 2021 I moved to the Charlotte area and started working with Leigh Anne. We quickly became friends and she would talk about her long time friend and roommate who I would later come to know as Billy. The first time he and I met was after a long night of Leigh Anne and I bartending and a long night at the speedway drinking and watching a concert for Billy and Kyle - we of course had to pick them up and take them home. Just a brief introduction for the two of us. We went on about our lives and that was it for Billy and I, for the time being at least. After years of small talk in passing, Billy sent me a cheeky text one night that would plant the seed for our future together. About a month went by and I was over at Kyle and Leigh Anne's where Billy and I would end up talking and laughing all night long. I don't remember now if there was ever a day after that, that we didn't talk. Our relationship grew quickly and there wasn't a single topic we didn't cover. One day we realized we were more than just a couple, we were best friends. (Now is the part of the story where you learn why Bald Head Island is special to us.) One Saturday, Billy was visiting his friend Kevin in Oak Island and asked me to come down and take the ferry over to Bald Head Island with him. I hadn't been there in a long time and was excited because it's no secret that I love the beach. That day the weather was perfect - we found the best seashells, had the best drinks, and had the most fun riding around the island on the golf cart. But none of that compared to visiting the Chapel where Billy would tell me he loved me for the first time (don't worry, I said it back). That night we would miss our scheduled ferry and have to wait an hour for the next one and would ride back to Southport under the brightest stars (SO romantic, I know). The island holds such a special memory for us from that day and is such a relaxing little getaway. After we were engaged, Billy was adamant that the Chapel was the place we should get married and I couldn't have agreed more. We are so excited to take all of our family and friends over to Bald Head Island to share in the next chapter of our love story. xo - kendra
