A Modern Love Fairy Tale and How It Started Online

Meeting someone online is a terrifying prospect. We honestly had very low expectations going into our coffee date one blustery November Saturday morning. What started out as a concern of the other person not showing up, or looking nothing like their profile picture, turned into a 3 hours long conversation over coffee and hot chocolate long since gone cold. And that, as they say, is how the story goes. While our next date was a hockey game that demanded little talk (can't talk while the puck is in play!) we more than made up for that later that night over chicken wings. It continued on like that until we both realized that this wasn't just some online date that happened to go right by luck, but rather by God's Grand Design, that we got really serious about marriage. And that would be how you ended up here, invited to watch us tie the knot!

Just Another Date Night...Or Is It a Proposal?

Going to the Dog Park

It was just going to be another Friday date night out for us. Dinner, then taking Roo to the Grand Ravines Dog Park to burn off some energy. Getting home from work that evening, my mom kept telling me to "change into a little nicer outfit than your Shipt shirt," and "maybe have a snack, maybe Scott doesn't want to get dinner right away?" Maybe I should've seen something coming there? While my parents left to run "errands," I did as suggested and got dressed up for date night. Upon Scott's arrival at my house, he did decide it would be better for us to delay dinner. To the dog park it was! Once there, we let Roo run free in the off-leash area, all while Scott kept suggesting we go check out some of the trails in the Ravines, and see the suspension bridge there too. Since I was starting to move from hungry into downright Hangry, I leashed Roo up so that we could do as Scott suggested before leaving for dinner, and headed off for the suspension bridge. While walking there, Scott had to pause to fix Roo's leash, as something was apparently wrong with it. Moving onto the bridge, we spent a few moments looking at the woods laid out around us. Towards the far end of the bridge, Scott asked me to look at Roo's collar, as it looked like there was an issue with it. Not seeing anything, I brushed it off, until he spun her collar around for me to look at her tags. There, hanging out with her tags, was the gorgeous engagement ring! After I hesitatingly asked if this was actually him proposing to me, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. As you know, I said YES! Proving how thoughtful he is, Scott pointed out that he'd asked my family to be there to watch and capture it all in pictures for us. So much for my parents running "errands" and Tyler and Katie having themselves a date night. The moment of celebrating our new engagement with family was totally worth all the tears that followed!
