I first met Kendra in 2013 when we both swiped right. After a few weeks of talking, a first date at the HorseShoe and a very puffy vest, I knew she was an amazing person but timing is everythings. In 2018, I was putting together a softball team and needed more players. As a state champion, I knew Kendra could pick up the glove any day and wouldn’t miss a beat. I didn’t know if she would show up… Even though it had been years since I saw her in person, I took a shot. Invited her to drive across the state, play softball for two days and crash on a strangers couch. Tempting I know. Lucky for me, she showed up! I can assure everyone, Kendra has not lost her skills or competitive drive. Apparently, my softball skills and some cracked ribs that she mistook for “swag” - were enough to catch her eye. While I have stopped asking her to spend our summers at softball fields, she is now my favorite golf partner. In fact, last summer we got our first win in only our second couples tournament. Kendra is truly a champion at everything she does. As a lifelong dog person, Brody instantly became part of my life. He has spent hours on golf courses! Both riding around supervising my work and being a brutally honest caddie while I play. He believes Ellensburg Country Club is his backyard. When I FINALLY got that ring in my hand, I knew exactly where we were headed. Pushing our bags down the 4th fairway, Brody on a bee line for his favorite tree by the green, I couldn’t feel my hands and I couldn’t wait to reach the green. As Kendra finished putting, I took a knee. It surprised her and surprised me when she started to run away. Thankfully, she came back and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my favorite golf group of all time.
Kendra's story: I met Jed in 2013 like any other millennial - a good ol' swipe right on Tinder. I never would've guessed that the man who picked me up in his little Subaru wearing a big ol puffy vest in 2013 would be the man I married, still driving me around in that little Subaru- the vest is gone though, thank goodness! Although Jed and I never officially dated back then, he was often someone on my mind. Maybe that's because he'd occasionally pop into my texts or my DM's.. BUT in 2018 when Jed, a man I hadn't seen in years asked me to play in a softball tournament with a bunch of strangers, not to mention I hadn't touch a softball in probably 10 years.. for some reason I agreed to do it! That decision changed the course of my whole life. I showed up, met Jed in the parking lot and knew in an instant that I was going to make that man my husband, and as it turns out - I was right!! Soon after, I decided to quit my job in Seattle to make the move back over the mountain and see where life took me.. Turns out life has taken me on one of the weirdest and wildest rides of my life! We've had career changes, we've moved over the mountain and back together, survived living in a tiny home, built a business and somehow managed to get to the golf course even when we didn't have any free time! Over the last 5 years, Jed has become the best part of my life. He's encouraged me, challenged me, grown with me.. Jed has continued to bet on me when I wasn't even sure I'd bet on myself. His love and support has been so unwavering, even when I ask him to take all his free time to lay flooring and slap up some shiplap to make my dream a reality! Jed has always made me his priority and shown me love in a way I didn't think was possible. I truly believe that God created Jed to be my teammate throughout this life, he is SO patient, he is the most kind, the BEST dog dad and he has continued to put God at the center of our home and decisions. I think it's so crazy how God has a way of putting people together when the timing is right. So, here is to God's timing and spending forever together!
