There are many people who can claim to be the reason we met. Many of which are groomsmen and ushers, as we essentially met from having mutual friends. The links of how we met is intertwined and tangled through many long lasting friendships, broken roads, and fogging nights that must have been fun if we can’t quite remember them. Had Kendra not told her roommate Anant to spend the night at Trump (Coletin) and Paytons apartment in Missoula before catching a flight, then maybe Anant wouldn’t have invited Payton and his Lincoln friends who lived next to Kendra’s apartment, over for a friendly game of rage cage. A rage cage game that Kendra lost (which was very rare I might add) because she was so busy trying to sneak looks at the very handsome boy who stood across the table. Payton and his group of friends left before Kendra could gain the courage to ask Aziah for his number, so she swore she would the very next time she saw him. That very next time was Halloween night 2020, Aziah was dressed as Hugh Hefner and Kendra was dressed as Velma from her childhood favorite cartoon, Scooby-Doo. The exchange was brief as he was walking out of the Dublin Pub, she was walking in…and then there was Riley Frey, dressed in the costume his girlfriend wore the night before…providing humorous commentary though the entire exchange as the sight of Kendra getting a phone number (which he had never seen happen before) to none other than a freshman was too shocking to not mention, apparently. Not too far down the line, Anant, Rylie, and Kendra threw a “Anything But Cups” party and as they were making the guest list (walk-ins welcome of course) Kendra decided it would be a great excuse to invite over her Lincoln friends, hoping they would bring Aziah. They did, and during the ABC party, Aziah and Kendra teamed up and proceeded to beat every single person in beer pong. Crushes grew into love and before long we were officially dating March 31st, 2021. Life has a funny way of handing you blessings when you least expect it and we welcomed a baby girl, Vivian Ezra Blotkamp September 2nd, 2022. We continued our engineering degrees together while raising our girl and were planning our yearly May trip to Kendras home town, Glendive when Aziah suspiciously told Kendra to “be sure to pack her tennis shoes for a hike in Makoshika” Aziah never planned this far ahead so Kendra knew something was up. Kendra packed everything she could think of for a hike in Makoshika, she didn’t care if it was a flash flood they were GOING to Makoshika. On May 9th, 2024 Aziah took Kendra on a hike in Montanas largest State Park, a park that Kendra hiked her whole childhood. The trail he chose was the first trail Kendra took him on when he visited Glendive for the first time, the most East he has ever been. The trail is world renowned for its Big Sky views and a natural bridge forged from prehistoric bedrock. On the natural bridge, he bent down on one knee with the most beautiful elliptical sapphire ring and asked for her hand in marriage. Kendra was so ecstatic, we are all lucky she didn’t accidentally jump off the bridge. We love the beginning of our story – sharing our start with friends, so many laughs, the love and support of our families, our time at Montana Tech and the beautiful addition of Vivian, who has allowed us to become a family. As we make the next chapter of our life “official”, we embrace the fact there are fewer nights of beer pong in exchange for family walks around this “City of Love”. Instead of nights we can’t remember, we welcome Sunday mornings and weekends full of family time watching Vivian discover our world. Our family is growing, our friendships are forever and our faith has become a beautiful part of who we are. We plan on laughing and loving together forever. We welcome this next chapter...please begin it with us.
